The Diet

Traditional ceremonies include the use of a special restricted diet.

Many pharmaceutical drugs are contraindicated, in particular Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) such as Prozac and Zoloft. If you are taking any such medication, you will need to inform us before the retreat. For your safety, we advise you to consult your medical practitioner if you intend to discontinue any prescribed medication.
Please Note: If you have any form of diabetes you cannot use ayahuasca.

In order to get the most out of this experience, we recommend you follow these guidelines.

Participants should refrain from eating the following foods a few days prior to the retreat:

Aged cheeses (exception cottage cheese, cream cheese), cream, yoghurt, cocoa, coffee, chocolate, peanuts, all soy-bean products incl. soy-sauce, avocados, bananas, pineapple, figs and raisins, alcohol,
Meats: Beef, Pork, Lamb, ofal: liver and kidneys
Beanpods (lima, fava beans, lentils, snow peas, chick-peas and soy beans), pickled or heavily spiced foods and yeast extracts.

Sexual abstinence is also recommended for three days before arriving.

In general it is wise to avoid sugar, spices and salt.
